Carly Rae Jepsen may be busy playing Cinderella on Broadway right now, but she’s still managed to find time to work on her follow up to 2012′s underrated Kiss.
According to Carly, the new album will be a mixture of folk and ’90s pop, and collaborations include top forty hitmaker Benny Blanco and the legendary Cyndi Lauper.
“I’ve been writing folk songs, so I think you can expect the unexpected for this next record,” she told MTV.
“If anything, my last record was ’80s and what I’ve been working on lately is very ’90s, so I’m kind of just growing up slowly through the ages,” Jepsen revealed. “But I was really inspired at the time by things like that and lately I’m all about ['90s television series] ‘Blossom’.
Hmm, folk music, Cyndi Lauper, and Blossom. What an interesting mix…
We just hope that Carly hasn’t joined the ’90s nostalgia wave too late in the game. She already released the totally ’80s-inspired Kiss when everybody else was busy reliving the ’90s, which may have been a reason why it flopped. What if by the time Carly’s new ’90s LP drops, everybody has moved on to the early 2000s?
